The modern sport centre in South Tyrol region will be once again hosting the IBU Cup (former European Cup), for the third time in a row.Next December 11th and 12th the world’s top biathletes will be gathering among the Italian Alps for the second leg of the 2010-2011 season, after the Norwegian races scheduled on November 27th and 28th in Beitostoelen.The Organizing Committee ‘ASV Martello/Raiffeisen’, headed by Georg Altstätter, managed to organise two IBU Cup stages throughout this year. Last February 12th and 13th the penultimate leg of 2009-2010 season took place in Val Martello, and now everyone is working hard to welcome the prestigious event once again next December.The official schedule reads as follows: two Pursuit races (Men’s 20 km and Women’s 15 km) on Saturday December 11th, followed by the Men’s 10 km Sprint and the Women’s 5 km Sprint races on Sunday.The Biathlon Centre Martell offers 12 km of ski tracks and the most modern shooting range in the country with 30 electronic targets HoRa 2000. In addition, thanks to the altitude of 1.700 m. a.s.l., there is a very high probability of snow falling from November till April.The 2010-2011 season looks rather busy for the ‘ASV Martello/Raiffeisen’ team. Right after the IBU Cup competitions, the Val Martello biathlon centre will host the Italian Cup (Dec. 18th and 19th), and two South Tyrol Cup legs on January 3rd and February 13th 2011. The 2011 Biathlon Kids-Italian Championship will take place on February 19th and 20th, and the season will finish on March 6th with the penultimate stage of the 2011 Ski Mountaineering World Cup.After the Italian competitions, the 2010-2011 IBU Cup will move to Obertilliach (Austria – December 15th-18th), Nove Mesto (Czech Republic – 6th-9th January 2011), Altenberg (Germany – 12th-15th January), Brezno-Orsblie (Slovakia – 3rd-6th February), Bansko (Bulgaria – 9th-12th February), Annecy-Le Grand Bornand (France – 8th-13th March).Info: www.biathlon-martell.com
